''So - here it is: The first Featherz album. A few familiar tracks along with a bunch of brand new tracks, plus a few surprises thrown in. None of them have previously been available on CD. Having secured the agreement of the band to release it, I wanted to compile something which would represent the first five years. Hence the title. Seventeen tracks for ten quid also represents good value by any standard!

WHEN I FALL IN LOVE
These two tracks were recorded at Perry Vale Studio in 2012 and produced by Pat Collier. Despite being two of the earliest Featherz recordings, they have only been available as downloads and have never previously been released in any physical format. I am therefore pleased to include them on this CD. Both tracks have been remastered.

RNR*
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HAD SEX?
First appearance on CD for these two tracks, recorded at Oktopus Studio in 2013 and originally released by Charles Of London Records as a 7-Inch vinyl single which represented the first physical Featherz-only product. An essential inclusion on this album. Both tracks remastered for this release.

DIG ME
CHELSEA
Previously unreleased. Recorded at Broadoak Studios in 2014, at the same session which produced the ‘You’ single. I was able to obtain the tracks in February 2017 and mix them at Quadra Studio.


BAD GIRL
PARTY CRASHER
Recorded at Seacroft Studio in January 2016, and included as part of their ‘Live & Unsigned’ radio series. Previously only available as part of an internet podcast, and included here because I think they deserve a wider audience. Produced by Paul Finch.

FORGET ALL YOU KNOW
MOONAGE DAYDREAM
First appearance on CD. Recorded at Quadra Recording Studio in January 2016, these two tracks represented the third Featherz single. It was originally planned to release these tracks as a CD single in late 2016, but the band parted company with Charles Of London Records and the plan was abandoned. The single was instead released as a download only.

PATIENCE (LIVE – ACOUSTIC)
Previously unreleased. A rare treat and a personal favourite, this is the Featherz like you’ve never heard them before. Recorded live at the Klub Akisha Acoustic Festival in July 2016 at the Borderline, London. I loved this version the first time I heard it, and once tried to persuade the band to release it as a B-side. It is a pleasure to include it here instead.

BALLROOM BLITZ
GIVE OVER DARLING
CUM ON FEEL THE NOIZE
Previously unreleased. Recorded at the same session as Forget All You Know and Moonage Daydream. A teaser for ‘Ballroom Blitz’ was released as a promotional video clip on YouTube in August 2016, but the full track appears here.

BEAT ON THE BRAP (LIVE)
Previously unreleased. Recorded live at London’s legendary Madame Jojo’s club in October 2013 during the launch party for the RNR* single. A version of this track was briefly available on the Soundcloud website, but I was never truly happy with the sound. In early 2017 I took the opportunity to refurbish the master elements, from which this new mix was produced.

HOPELESS SUMMER (LIVE)
Previously unreleased. This Alice Atkinson-penned track.
This live version, from July 2016’s Who Run The World ‘Riot Grrrl’ event at the Fiddler’s Elbow in Camden, represents the only occasion the song was officially recorded.

DON’T DICTATE (LIVE)
Previously unreleased. This version was recorded live at London’s famous St. Moritz Club in Soho. You can hear the ambience of this small club straight away on this recording, with the sound bouncing off the low ceiling. I was present at the gig, and it was a glam-rock riot! One or two of the audience were visibly stunned at what they were witnessing, and I wanted to include an example of the show on this CD.
